Who We Are

Relay (relayresume.com) is an independently operated service that tailors resumes to specific job descriptions. We decide what personal data the service collects and why, which makes us responsible for it. You can reach us about anything on this page at support@relayresume.com or through the contact page.

Relay is currently offered to users in the United States, and all data is stored and processed there. If you are using Relay from outside the United States, please read the rest of this page carefully before submitting personal information.

What We Collect

We collect your account details, the profile you build in the product (including your name, contact details, employment history, and education), any resumes you upload, the job descriptions you submit, the documents the service generates for you, and application usage logs required to run and secure the service. If you use them, we also store the files, notes and links you add to Spaces, the companies and job postings you track in Job Monitor, your prompt customizations and prompt-chat messages, and anything you send through the contact form, including attachments.

Sensitive Information in Resumes

Relay never asks you for sensitive personal information, but resumes and cover letters often contain it anyway — nationality or immigration status, disability or accommodation details, health information explaining a gap in employment, military or veteran status, trade union membership, or a religious or political affiliation implied by a past employer or volunteer role.

Anything present in the text you upload or paste is sent to our AI providers along with the rest of it, because the whole document is processed as one piece. We do not detect or separate this category of information. If you would prefer it not leave your machine, remove it from the document before uploading. Doing so does not affect how the rest of the service works.

Why We Use Your Data

We use your data to do the thing you asked for: generate resumes, run ATS analysis, and deliver the rest of the product. We also use it to keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures. We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to train our own models.

Service Providers Who Receive Your Data

Generating a resume requires sending your profile content and the job description you provide to third-party model providers. This is core to how the product works, so we name each provider and what it receives:

• Anthropic — receives your profile content and job description text to extract keywords, write the resume, and score it against the posting.
• Google — receives job description text, uploaded resume content when you import a profile, and generated resumes for review and alignment scoring.
• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage. All account data and generated documents are stored there at rest.
• Railway — hosts the application itself.
• Stripe — processes payments and holds billing identifiers. Checkout is hosted by Stripe, so card details are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
• Resend — delivers contact-form messages to our support inbox and Job Monitor alert emails to you.

We use these providers under their standard business terms, which govern how they may handle the data we send them. We do not share your data with them for advertising.

Where Your Data Is Processed

Relay and all of the providers listed above operate in the United States, and your data is stored and processed there. If you access Relay from another country, you are sending your information to the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

Storage and Security

Data is stored in managed cloud infrastructure with access controls and encrypted transport. Each account's data is isolated by user, and access is limited to authorized systems and staff.

Data Retention

We do not currently operate an automatic expiry or scheduled purge. Your profile, job runs, and generated documents are kept until you delete them or until your account is deleted. Deleting an individual job removes both its record and the files generated for it.

Your Choices

You can view and edit your profile at any time from within the app, and you can delete individual job runs and their generated files yourself.

To request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account, email support@relayresume.com or use the contact page. Account deletion is currently handled manually by our team rather than through a self-service control in the product. We will confirm once your account and its stored documents have been removed, and we aim to respond to any request within 30 days.

Children

Relay is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this page as the product changes and revise the date at the top when we do. If a change materially affects how we handle data you have already given us, we will tell you by email or with a notice in the app before it takes effect.
